How we homeschool 2021 – Homelearning in a pandemic

Now we are a good few weeks into homeschool 2021 I wanted to share what that means for us. Homeschooling has obviously been a hot topic since March 2020 and whilst we have only officially been doing this since September I thought I’d share what an average week or so looks like for us. It’s worth noting that ‘homeschooling’ and pandemic school / recreation at home are totally different things. I have the upmost respect and sympathy for parents all over the uk who are trying to recreate the classroom at home. Juggling numerous zoom lessons and home learning deadlines as well as multiple children / work / living through a pandemic. It’s quite honestly impossible and an incredible ask for children / parents / teachers combined. I also think we are in a somewhat unique position to have one home educated child and one school (albeit reception class) aged child at home with us at the moment. Snow Day! A pick me up when we hit an emotional wall

We so rarely get a snow day in Bristol and my gosh did we need this pick me up. It’s funny how a flurry of snow can bring so much joy. We woke at 6am on Sunday as I had forgotten that I had ordered an online grocery shop a month ago (and 6 was the only slot I could get). So I was totally confused to open the door in my pj’s and see snow! It felt like a beautiful dream, especially in this time when the little moments mean so much. We headed to our local park which was full of people enjoying the weather. (Obviously everyone was socially distanced as we were all in the such a big area out in the open) just seeing people so happy and having fun with their families was such a pick me up. I’ve been feeling like I was hitting a brick wall with lockdown 2021, the constant rain and all the feelings that January often brings.
